[typo_image src=”” width=”100%” height=”auto” title=”” style=”resize”]It’s the 120th year of the biggest, best and most prestigious event in the Classical music world and if you’re quick you may still be able to pick up some tickets for Last Minute Proms.

The Proms, held annually at the nearby Royal Albert Hall and Cadogan Hall on Sloane Terrace, take place over 8 weeks this Summer between 18 July and 13 September 2014 and are just a stone’s throw away from Nell Gwynn House.

Although the series is now drawing to a close, there are tickets still available in advance for some performances although the atmospheric Last Night of the Proms, is already sold out. However, if you are prepared to queue, a very limited number of £5 tickets are released on the day for each performance. Failing that, you can head to nearby Hyde Park on 13 September from 3pm with a Picnic Hamper, and join thousands of other music lovers celebrating the event.  With live music from The BBC Concert Orchestra, and special guests including Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo, soprano Pumeza Matshikiza, Rufus Wainwright and legendary Earth, Wind & Fire, the evening promises to demonstrate the Best of British atmosphere.

Proms in the Park, hosted by Sir Terry Wogan and Tony Blackburn culminates in a live big-screen link-up to the Royal Albert Hall for the traditional singalong.
