London’s St. Patrick’s celebrations aren’t just one but three days!
You don’t have to venture to the Emerald Isle to have a festive St. Patrick’s Day weekend. Whether you favour hoisting a pint or two at a neighbourhood pub or joining in a mass Wearin’ o’ the Green, London has a full slate of activities from March 17-19 honouring Ireland’s patron saint.
You’ll find an Irish film series, family-friendly festival with food and live entertainment at Camden Market, an Irish-themed historic walking tour, music and poetry in selected Underground stations, a vast family adventure trail, and more.
The highlight, of course, comes on March 19 with the annual 1.5-mile (2.4km) St. Patrick’s Day Parade down Piccadilly in Central London beginning at noon and the boisterous Trafalgar Square Festival.
You will be swept up in the sheer magnitude of the procession with floats, bands, dancers, and spirited sports clubs weaving through a route that includes some of the city’s most celebrated sights.
With everything from the Guinness to the London Eye turning green, you’ll find it easy to get in the spirit.
