Buckingham Palace

Summer is the time to visit the world’s most famous active royal residence — Buckingham Palace. Tours of the 19 State Rooms and 42-acre gardens — both the London home and offices of Queen Elizabeth — are available 22 July through 1 October, but early booking is encouraged for one of the city’s most popular attractions.

The tour includes a remarkable collection of paintings (including works by Rembrandt and Rubens) and sculpture, fine porcelain and elegant English and French furniture. This summer’s special exhibit is a display of Royal Gifts from the Queen’s 65 years on the throne.

More than 30 species of birds and 300 varieties of plants may be seen in the gardens, and guests can view the lake and west side of the palace on their stroll.

Ticket prices begin at £23 and may be purchased here. Entry times are assigned, and guided tour translations are available in a number of international languages.
